[English Translation] ========================= At what time this youth leaves the Academy, & what she does after, all the rest of her life. CHAP. X. When they are twenty-four years old, they leave the Academy & the subjection of their Masters & Preceptors to come & reside at Court, in order to be employed in public duties: but although they are outside the subjection of the said Masters, they are not left to their own devices, being placed in barracks, five to five, with a tenner above them, & every two tenners they take their meals together, in one of the rooms of their lodgings, one of them doing the expenses each week, with only four servants, one for each barrack which serves all. Over each Hundred there is a Captain, appointed by the Council, a man of age & authority, who has the power to command them when they are sent on some expedition, taking care of their morals & ways |
