After that, he began to confute the vanity of idols by philosophical reasons, showing them how useless they were & the service they did bore them no fruit or value in this life, nor after death. Afterwards he spoke to them of the true God as much by philosophical reasons, as by the truth of sacred stories, showing them what was his nature, strength, greatness, power & love towards us, coming from there to the creation & sin of man, to his death & confusion, in which he had enclosed the human race, & as it was necessary to repair this breach, that he should send a true Savior. God & man to give us back through his death the life & graces that our first father had lost through his disobedience.
