       For light horses, they are given much less food, especially since they are only required to have a good horse, and one, or two mules, if they want, by the dozen to carry their baggage. They therefore each have eight measures of wheat & 16. of oats for their horses: the Captain, 16. & 64. of oats: His lieutenant, 12. & 48. of oats. The Cornette[1] & Quartermaster 30.
       Concerning the Millenier, or Camp Master of the Gendarmerie, he has two hundred ecus pay per month, and especially since most of them are great Lords who do not take any provisions except when necessary the Commissaries of provisions give them what they please according to their train and equipages.
       The Master of Camp or Millenier of light horses, has six score escus, and wheat and oats also according to his equipage. That's it for the pay, food & munitions of the Gendarmerie.
