however always the music & other exercises begun in the first age, they will confer & disputants besides that every day after the lessons, to confirm what they have learned, to make their minds sharp & subtle, so as not to remain short, but assured & resolute to the objections & replies that are made to them.
       The third age continues the same exercises, & moreover, learns the laws & ordinances of the Kingdom for two years, declaiming ordinarily & practicing in the palace, in order to become experts in judging controversies well, & understanding the formalities of Law.
       If some are inclined to Theology, they can study there, & according to their capacity be promoted to Ecclesiastical honors & charges, as we will say hereafter. Even the most religious & elegant scholars are exhorted there by the Lords of the Academy, as being the most worthy & excellent profession of all, having God & Religion for object.
       The rest of the time, which is four years, they become practical, & confirm what they have learned. For if war comes, they can leave the Academy at twenty years of age, &
