& such other animals are also there in such great quantity as one would desire with abundant hare, badger, marmots & sublime Martens. Coming to the plain, & in the middle of the Kingdom, there are found stags, wild goats, lynx, hares, rabbits & foxes. Similar descending towards the Tropic are lions, tigers & furious spotted lynx, wild oxen, horses & donkeys, Elephants, Camels, Gazelles & ostriches. As for the horses, donkeys & mules, these are much more excellent than those of Egypt, Persia & Spain. All the inhabitants rightly take great pleasure in hunting, having so many kinds of wildfowl to exercise them. So much for the land animals, which I now remember. Of the Birds CHAP. VII. One would say, seeing the quantity & diversity of the birds which are in these countries, that it is the proper & particular place, to which God the |
