Therefore we must run incessantly, to win the prize of the supernal vocation which only the violent seize, for fear that by trusting too much in the supernal vocation, and by this means not working our salvation with fear, we are not finally reproved. We       do not pray at all for the dead, we do not believe in this chimera of Purgatory, nor that any satisfaction can be made thereby, for where there is no longer anything with which to pay, with what can they satisfy? And if they themselves cannot satisfy their Creditor, how will others pay for them? Seeing that it is by faith and repentance that we satisfy the justice of God, and that thereby, there is no longer any, but all fruition and enjoyment of happiness for the good, and punishments for the bad.       The prayer of the Holy Departed1 is also not in use, especially, they say, because we are given only one Advocate of the Father, to intercede for us, who promises to hear us however and whenever we pray to him in his Name, so that, they say, it would be great folly to leave the certain, to run after the uncertain: not knowing whether those to whom they pray are saved, nor in what place                                                        M   4
