stays and one has to go to the forage; the soldiers of both the cavalry and the infantry exercise themselves in the manner that we have said above, no one can leave the camp without the permission of his Captain, under great penalty, nor pass through it, , or cross the rampart under penalty of life, holding it between them as sacred: If one goes to the forage it is ordered with his escort and leader that one must go there.
       Justice is administered every morning by both the Milleniers of the infantry, and those of the cavalry in two large tents placed near that of the General, there where they practice the laws and ordinances of war, punishing principally cowardice, negligence, theft, infidelity and disobedience for being very prejudicial vices in an army.
       There are no executioners, but the soldiers themselves who execute the sentences, or the Dizainier sergeants appointed for that purpose, who march before the general dressed in his colors, each having a large sword drawn and sharp in his hand for this purpose.
       When it is necessary to fight, or when the army is in some peril, or when one is about to undertake something great, the General mounts a tribunal made turf six-foot-high to harangue
