Of the confusion in which all the Provinces of this Empire were before they were joined together, & how they determined to unite them;

      It is some two thousand two hundred years[1] since this entire great expanse of country which we have described was possessed by various Kings, Princes,

1. This places the formation of the republic of Antangil at about 600 BC. This date predates the Greek democracies and the Republic of Rome, as well as Christianity, all of which was undoubtedly relevant to the author! However, this date is within a hundred years or so of Lycurgus and the political and social reforms that he instituted in Sparta. As it appears that the author of Antangil was highly influenced by Machiavelli, and his work Discourses on Livy, he was also likely influenced by Lycurgus for whom Machiavelli gave high praise.
