       When evening comes, the companies which have to enter the guard, come to pass by the main street, turning around the Place du General, where a Lord on his part carries the tickets, where are the names of all the places in the Camp where one must keep guard.
       The first one who passes draws his ticket and goes to the place allotted and all the others consecutively after, gathering under small huts made from straw, rushes, reeds or other materials. The sentries are placed on each point on the flanks, we hope and sometimes we even have look outs in some trenches a hundred or fifty paces away, so that giving notice from further away, the guard corps will rather take up their arms. The said sentries rise four times a night to the sound of the drum and trumpets, in order to wake up, refresh and keep the soldiers alert.
       As for the patrols, they are the duty of the cavalry, which is ordered there from company to company, they are made from hour to hour from three to three, having a lantern with the password that their Captain gives in the evening from the General, and also all the other Colonels both of the infantry, and of the cavalry: But no soldiers know it except those
