Of the justice & good police that is kept in the camp. CHAP. I.[1] WHEN the whole Army has arrived at the place where the Camp has been designated. All the work of the trenches and fortifications is divided between all the Milleniers & Centeniers, especially since there are no camp followers, both to starve the army and to make the soldiers lazy, weary & idle, there being nothing that strengthens the corps more than continuous work & exercise. While working, the cavalry remains in battle form with part of the old soldiers without anyone daring to pitch their tents and pavilions or make lodges, until all the fortifications are completed. Similarly, the baggage can enter and put in the places marked for them. The work completed, the tent of the General is raised; then that of the retinue, then those of the Milleniers & Centeniers of both the cavalry and the infantry.
